Fallen Tree at Home

An elm at home, an old friend I used to climb as a boy, has toppled with no warning. In previous days it seemed fine. Nestled next to the hedge of Arizona cypresses, it seemed green and healthy.

Then on Sunday August 30th, the base broke.

There is now a noticeable lack.

There are two little elm shoots from the roots of the old elm that look promising. Here’s hoping that they will grow and preserve the heritage.
